Exploring 21st Century Career Opportunities
Each year, Manufacturing Day is recognized nationally on October 4. This date is also when CWIMA hosts the annual Heavy Metal Tour for Central Wisconsin students to showcase careers in local manufacturing companies. Approximately 4,700 students from area middle schools participate in the Heavy Metal Tour®. The event provides students with an opportunity to explore education and diverse career opportunities in manufacturing and the skilled trades by visiting North Central Technical College, Nicolet College, and Mid-State Technical College, and by touring local manufacturing facilities. CWIMA member-companies open their doors to host plant tours for students so they can experience firsthand the latest technologies employed in manufacturing and learn about high-demand career opportunities in the region.
